Megan's Story

Megan was born and raised in sunny Southern California, an avid beach volleyball player, amateur vegan chef, a lover of different cultures and languages, and an aficionado of the great outdoors.

A college romance led Megan to study Swedish in her 20s. After that relationship came to an end, she decided to seek out a pen pal to continue learning. She used Facebook to search for native Swedes who shared the same last name as her ex-boyfriend (the only Swedish surname she knew, at the time). In February 2010, the first person Megan sent a message to wrote her back. After 5 years of distance friendship-turned-romance, Megan and Johan decided on New Years Day 2015 to have Megan move to Sweden to begin their lives together.
