IMPORTANT UPDATE (15 September 2016): In order for this spreadsheet to remain a relevant resource, I have de-linked the "bigger spreadsheet" where we used to track over 1,000 cases from various sources. I still have that data if anyone ever wants it for their own research purposes, but due to time constraints I have been unable to continue updating it.
Instead, I have linked up to a new spreadsheet maintained by the I Väntan På Familjen facebook admins. While that groups is somewhat small, it is very diverse and a good microcosm of the queue as a whole. It is the spreadsheet that I now use for my sporadic updates of The Sambo Summary (see below for more info)
Below, you will find an embedded spreadsheet showing the (anonymized) application timelines of nearly a thousand ongoing cases (and counting!), with application submissions ranging from mid-2014 to present.

This information follows the tail of the Brief History of Swedish Migration I wrote (please refer to Part 7a), and where we all fit in, in context of the historical crisis Sweden is facing in terms of uncontrollable migrants flowing through the country.
Some notes about the spreadsheet below:
- Scroll to the right in the table below to see interview locations as well as notes collected about each case. (I couldn't get the whole spreadsheet to fit into my blog window)
- I do not have complete data for some application timelines because I could only mine what I found, or what people were willing to offer.
- Currently, we are seeing decisions fluctuate broadly between 12 and 15 months. .
Weekly Statistics Breakdown
I will be publishing The Sambo Summary sporadically (I am aiming for twice a month, currently), until I give birth this September. The report breaks down the spreadsheet below into a quick summary of easily viewable statistics. You can find recent and archived copies of all published reports on my blog by clicking here.
Here is a screenshot of the 15 September 2016 issue of the Sambo Summary:
It is important, as we wait, to bear in mind the severity of the immigration crisis in Sweden. Unprecedented actions such as passport checks, border controls, and public declarations that there is no more room and no more living accommodations, have been aimed at arriving refugees.
With no end in sight, and an entire nation of people pouring through Sweden's borders, their eyes are surely more focused on maintaining public safety, processing incoming refugees to get them in and out of the system, and attempting to stabilize public order. Migrationsverket workers are indeed under immense pressure, and it is important to remind ourselves that they are not the enemy. Their job is dictated by the powers controlling the country we wish to become citizens of. It is therefore a difficult balance to both respect our future host nation, but also allow ourselves the freedom to feel all the feelings we do about being stuck in a disastrous situation, although we ourselves are easily approved, with family and living accommodations waiting at the ready for us. It is incredibly difficult to juggle the reality that it is SO EASY to give (most of) us the stamp of approval, and yet also accept the reality of the grave socioeconomic situation the nation is in.
At the end of the day, at this point, they truly must put the refugees before us.
One does not easily confess that.

DeleteHI!
DeleteApplication submission; 30th match 2015 . I'm from Ukraine,husbend citizen EU!NO NEWS!
Thank you for your timelines, Unknown and Anonymous - I will add you to the spreadsheet later today!
DeleteAnonymous, I just want to make sure you are aware of a special rule based off of the information you have provided me. If your husband is an EU-citizen living in Sweden and he is NOT a Swedish citizen yet, then you can do your waiting IN Sweden with him!! There are EU directives that govern the treatment of EU citizens that Sweden must recognize, even though Sweden does not give that same right to their own citizens. The rule is if you are married or a common law spouse to an EU citizen who is living in Sweden on an adequate Right of Residence (work, study, etc), then you can apply to live with him and spend your application wait time in Sweden. I have pasted the link to MV's website so you can read more about it.
The only catch is that if he is also a Swedish citizen (has dual citizenship), then this will not qualify. Also, you two will need to prove some maintenance requirements (see link below), however I believe you have the right to begin studying right away, so that's an added bonus if that's something you want to do!
Read more about this scenario here: http://www.migrationsverket.se/English/Private-individuals/EU-citizens-and-long-term-residents/Work-study-or-live-in-Sweden-for-EU-citizens/Residence-cards-for-family-who-are-non-EU-citizens.html
One thing I will warn you about is that if you do your wait while you are in Sweden. your application will take MUCH much longer to process than if you stayed outside of Sweden. This is because MV see's you as the lowest priority, since you have already been reunited with your loved one. We have people on The Local who have waited over 15 months now, just to get an interview. Still no news! But some people don't care about that, so long as they get to e with their loved one :)
Hi! Thanks for the information and input, I do not know much English and I use a translator! If apologize! We got married in Sweden and if the husband is not a Swedish citizen but a citizen of the European Union, I can wait for a response in Sweden, without the right to travel to the decision.

Hi dear! You are now officially added :) Thank you so much for sharing your timeline!
DeleteWould you mind also sharing which city you did your interview in, and if you know what permit unit in Sweden your case is currently at? No worries if not; I just like to try to keep the spreadsheet as filled out as possible :)
- I did the interview in Riyadh - Saudi Arabia
Delete- I do not know what a permit unit in Sweden my case is currently at, by the way how do I know? I call them and they say no case officer yet.
Hi there! Knowing where your case is being handled actually doesn't matter anymore, so don't worry :) At some point in your application timeline, your case is assigned to a certain permit unit. It used to be that when that happened, your permit would stay there. But now, it gets passed around from unit to unit, depending on which office has available case officers to look at the next case :) So don't worry about calling them - I only asked in case you may have known. Anyway, I have all your details updated on the spreadsheet now!
DeleteHi dear there!

DeleteThank you for taking the time, creating and updating this spreadsheet.
Hi Found! I wanted to follow up with you to see if you had any new news on your case? I've noticed that most October cases have received a decision by now... I was hoping to add a decision date for your case as well! Let me know?? :)

Hi Ally! Thank you for sharing your info :) Question for you (just so I can make my spreadsheet as complete as possible): do you recall when you received the email for your interview? And also, what city you did your interview in?
DeleteI have you added into our spreadsheet now, you are currently Sambo Couple #27! <3
Hi,
ReplyDeleteYou can add my information too. I applied from Canada.
Applied March 24, 2015
Received email for the interview September 14, 2015
Interviewed October 6, 2015
Decision pending
Oh, this is wonderful and very interesting news! May I trouble you to ask two questions: 1) (just so I can complete my spreadsheet): what city in Canada did you go to for your interview? (Province is fine also, if you don't want to identify city). And 2) is there anything notably unique about your case? For instance, you didn't apply for priority before they discontinued it, did you? I ask because it's been well-observed that everyone who applied after 13 February 2015 (including those I am tracking, and many many other couples not on the spreadsheet) has not received an interview email yet. Except for the handful of people who applied for priority before it was discontinued. May I trouble you to confirm? Thanks!
Delete(In the meantime, I will add you now! Looks like you will be the new Sambo Couple #51 when I add you :) )
Sorry, I accidentally started a new comment [below] instead of replying to this one!
DeleteHey Megan,
ReplyDeleteRegarding your first question, I technically had my interview in Toronto, though a portion of it involved speaking on the phone to the embassy in Ottawa. So when scheduling a time, both the Ottawa embassy and the Toronto consulate schedules were considered. I guess you can put Ontario to make it easier :)
And no, I didn't apply for priority and can't think of anything unique to my case. So maybe I just got lucky. But we'll see if it has any impact on my decision date. It's my understanding that they are making decisions based on application date, so it's possible that those still waiting for the interview will have a shorter time to wait after their interviews. I guess we'll find out (not) soon enough.
Also, I tried to find your facebook group, but couldn't seem to access the link. Is it still up and running? Is there a group name I can search? Thanks!
Hey hey! Yes, I think you're right. I try to encourage folks that the timing of the interview should not yet alarm anyone. MV seems to be holding to delivering decisions in 13-15 months, and perhaps they're just scheduling the interviews for later since the processing is taking that long and people are complaining about the Alien's Act restrictions. I truly think that is a plausible explanation (although it would be really nice if they would just come on out and explain it themselves #wishfulthinking).
DeleteAs for the Support Group, we made a family decision to cap the group at 100 people (approx. 50 couples) just to keep that "small community" vibe healthy. But we've already seen 3 of our legacy couples (applied in 2014) get decisions, so how about you come join us!
Since the group is "secret", it means we will need to become facebook friends first so I can invite you into the group (you can de-friend me afterwards if you want - no pressure there!) If you're ok with that, shoot me an email at uppehallstillstandstodgrupp@gmail.com and either send me a link to your profile so I can add you, or I can send you my link and you can add me. And then I'll shimmy you into the group :)
Talk soon!

Hey, I applied 10/22/2014, had my interview at the San Diego consulate early August of this year (could have had it earlier but visited Sweden early summer). Our case is in the Örebro unit I believe. It's been a long waiting game! I know it's risky but I'm planning on visiting Sweden for Christmas. Customer service gave me mixed answers about whether or not visiting would negatively impact our case. BUT my husband was able to get in touch with a case worker over the phone and was told that we wouldn't get rejected, instead they just won't make a decision for the duration of the visit. Still have my fingers crossed to hear something before the trip
ReplyDeleteHi there! First of all, I'm adding you to the spreadsheet now - thank you for contributing, and do come back and let us know any updates!!
DeleteI had my interview in San Diego too. Wasn't Katarina the sweetest?? I also had a similar situation where I waited 2 months to do my interview because I had a 1-month trip over Sweden I wanted to do first. And, as you have said, our support group was talking about the same topic (what REALLY are the risks of visiting post-interview) and we have received enough of the same info as you have to determine that it is fine as long as you notify MV, and they won't delay your case; they just won't give you the decision until you proved you have exited (on of our members who received his decision last week, took a selfie in front of a landmark outside of Sweden and had his iPhone time stamp it, as proof). From our statistics, it doesn't look at all like they delay the processing of your case if you visit post-interview. So----have a gorgeous Christmas trip and enjoy this magical time of the year with your love. They seem to be working through early October applications now (and closing out older ones too), so you should hopefully get a decision very very soon! <3
Hi again! I actually saw/liked your post in the fb group i väntan på familjen today and I thought I should update you. My husband was contacted some days ago by MV about registering our marriage with the Swedish tax authorities. He had tried to do so before but with a copy of our certificate and they needed the original. Now that I'm visiting we are going to get that out of the way. I probably wont be hearing my decision until I get back home in a few weeks - which kind of sucks but I'm still really glad to be here
DeleteHey! Just wanted to update that my case's status was updated yesterday (1/18/2016) and as of today I learned that it was approved :)
DeleteYes yes, I thought that was you who posted that in the I Väntan group!! Thank you so much for coming here and updating me too! I captured your decision date earlier today :) So many congratulations to you and your husband, I wish you all the happiness for your future! <3
DeleteHi i applied from India my application registered on 28th August 2014, interviewed at delhi on 9th October 2014. What is my status. It will be 15 months completed in three days. when can i get the decision
ReplyDeleteOh heavens...I can't believe you applied so long ago, and even did your interview so long ago! And still haven't received a decision?? That is crazy! Although, as can be seen in this spreadsheet, there are even a few people I am tracking who applied earlier than you and still haven't received their decision either :(
DeleteFrom what we have seen, 13-15 months is "normal". Anything beyond that, from what I have researched, means that there is going to be more investigation needed. They may call your partner in for an interview in Sweden, or they may need to conduct some more information to feel comfortable with what has been provided to them. But beyond that, I cannot say :( Have you spoken to MV? Have they told you or your partner any details of your case?
I have added you to our spreadsheet in the meantime - please do come back and visit if you have any details - any at all! Surely you aren't alone, and there are others in the world who have been waiting as long as you have, and would love to know any information you have learned that you could share.
We are cheering for you to get a speedy decision!! <3

DeleteYou're the best :) Thank you for updating me - and, GRATTIS!! How exciting! One less thing to worry about, right??
DeleteHave a wonderful weekend!
Tja! Oh I should also mention they asked for a rental agreement or proof of housing for the interview. Definitely one less thing to think about however I have so many questions regarding moving/time frames that I am finding it stressful! Especially considering we wanted to start a family this year but now it seems likes the timing is off since its unsure of when we will receive a decision and shipping containers generally need 6 months notice and you know stuff like jobs and real life. haha. I read somewhere you have 6 months to enter Sweden after receiving a decision...I wish they had a help line. Nu det ar dags att trana Svenska. Nar vi flyttar till Sverige jag ska kopa ett svenskt dator sa jag har alfabetet. :)
DeleteSambo Couple 327 BESLUTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTTT :D WOWOWOWOWOW!! Hope the result is positive :) Calling on my break at work.
DeleteHi Meg! First of all, I want to say how grateful I am for your blog! It is the most in-depth, up to date, and resourceful blog I have found yet on the sambo visa process. It's so comforting to know that there are other people out there enduring situations not unlike mine. I appreciate all the information you gave given regarding the visa process and long-distance relationships.
ReplyDeleteI submitted my application on September 20, 2015 and unsurprisingly, have heard nothing yet. I foresee waiting at least a year to receive the visa. Since the wait time is so long, I was hoping to visit my boyfriend in Sweden at some point but have received very unclear information as to whether it is "allowed". From the various blogs and forums I have read, it appears to be okay to visit Sweden BEFORE the interview has taken place, but not AFTER the interview since that is technically when MV begins to make a decision about the case. I e-mailed MV last week to get a written confirmation of this, but received a very vague response.
"Thank you for your email.
What you read on our website is our general recommendation: "You may not enter Sweden while your application is being considered. Your permit must be ready before you travel to Sweden."
If you are in Sweden during the time a Case Officer takes a decision in your case you will be denied a permit in Sweden. That is according to Swedish law. Utlänningslagen 5 kap. 18 §.
That is why we recommend you to stay outside of Sweden until you are granted your permit. But the Migration Agency cannot comment a specific case. It is up to you to take our information in to consideration."
As I understand, you visited Sweden this past summer AFTER you submitted your application in January, correct? Were you able to get a confirmation from someone from MV saying it's ok to visit before the interview? I understand that they cannot comment on my specific case, but it is frustrating that this basic information cannot be verified. It seems unreasonable to not be able to visit Sweden during the entire wait process, since it is so long, however, I don't want to jeopardize a long-term plan to satisfy a short-term need/desire to see my boyfriend.
I appreciate any information you have regarding visiting Sweden during the waiting period!
Thanks,
Katie
Hi Katie dear! Omg... I have so many things to write in response! :D
Delete1) First of all, thank you for sharing that message! That is, sadly, actually the LEAST vague response I have seen come out of MV on this subject. They actually quoted a legal statute! You have no idea... it took me MONTHS to translate the legal text of the Alien's Act to figure out the actual law, because I kept getting BS messages that were conflicting and so difficult to figure out what i am actually allowed to do. I am going to use your message to help corroborate what I have written earlier and update my blog with it :)
2) I have indeed visited Sweden after I submitted my application, but have not visited since I had my interview. Which blows, because had I known it was going to take this long, I would have squeezed in another visit since then. But anyway, I digress ;) Essentially, here are the basics: A) The legal code she quoted you was correct - you *can* be rejected if you are in Sweden *when a case officer* picks up your case. But as a non-EU citizen, a case officer will not decide on your case before you have an interview; so, that is why it is ok to visit before then. Some people used to get priority (and, in certain cases, decisions before they did the interview due to priority), which is why I think MV quotes that text still - just to make sure they cover all situations. But priority doesn't exist anymore, so you're good! B) After the interview, all you need to do is just notify MV that you are traveling to Sweden, and they will in some cases (especially if you are getting close to the end) place a hold on your application, and will not render a decision until you leave Sweden (you don't need to return home, you just have to show proof you are not in the country). For people coming from countries that require a tourist visa, they need to submit a lot of proof showing they have a reason to return home before they will be granted a tourist visa, but for those of us who do not require a tourist visa, it's usually just "your word is your bond", or they may have you send them proof that you purchased a return flight home.
3) Are you on Facebook? We have a very tight-knit support group on there to help support one another, answer questions, share info, etc. It is a "secret" group, so new members cannot be added unless they're fb friends with a member. If you think it would be beneficial and would like to join us, send me an email at uppehallstillstandstodgrupp@gmail.com, and we can coordinate it!
Best,
Meg
Hey there, I still have not recieved a decision, but I seem to have been luckier then most in that I got my interview already. I applied the 5th of October 2015,recieved an Email to set up an interview on November 14th and Interviewed November 19, 2015, and awaiting decision. I am from the U.S. and interviewed in Salt Lake City which seems to be less busy than Washington D.C. or the bigger consulates or embassies. Me and my partner are not married, but plan on living together. Best of luck to all!
ReplyDeleteHi HistoricalBeauties! Sorry it took me so long to respond.. I booked a last-minute 6 week trip to Sweden to be with my love... but only gave myself 6 days to pack and take care of business! Ahhh! ;)
DeleteI will add you to my spreadsheet now, and wanted to share with you some information I have sourced from other groups/forums I belong to.
Apparently (for some as of yet unknown reason), MV has been auto-issuing interviews to many people who applied after October 2015. MV has told several people who have inquired about this, that the date of the interview invitation has no impact on the ultimate decision date, but rather "some people get the interview in the beginning, the middle, or the end".
Be wary of the Utlänningslag, which states you cannot be in Sweden at the time of the decision. The "Rule of Thumb" with this piece of legislation (which is sorely due for an update, as it was written when waiting times were only 3 months and the decision came weeks after the interview, which occurred toward the end of the wait) is that we can all visit Sweden freely according to the laws governing our tourist visas BEFORE the interview. But AFTER the interview, we must notify MV of any visits we plan on making to Sweden, and it is said they can (or might?) hold our application from being processed any further, until we leave Sweden. This, because if we are in Sweden at the time of the decision, we "might be" rejected.
So, with that said, since you had your interview early, make sure to notify MV each time you travel to Sweden up until you get a decision, *just the be safe* :)
And please visit back if you have any any any details! This spreadsheet has become a very popular resource to the 60,000+ of us who are currently in the queue, so keeping the info fresh and up to date is important :) Thanks!
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI am from Japan and know a japanese woman who got her interview 1month after application.
She said she applied in October and got her interview in November. (Sorry, but I dont know the detail...)
It seems like some of the applicants got their interview quick.
There are lots of people who are still waiting for their interview mail more than 8 months..
I dont understand how migrationsverket works...
Hi!
ReplyDeleteI sent the application 2015-oct-07. Russia. Waiting :)
I would like to invite you to our FB Group, it is in Swedish (I väntan på familjen), we are 600 (from all over the world)now and still growing!
See you there ;)
Hi!! Thanks again for sharing this group with me. I love it!! <3
DeleteOh - and also - can I ask when the interview email was sent, when it was conducted, and in what city? I will update my blog with it!
DeleteUK citizen living in Sweden with Swedish sambo.
ReplyDeleteApplied for sambo visa March 2015.
No news as yet.
Hi Anonymous! I will add you to our spreadsheet, however I thought that UK citizens had right of residence and did not require a sambo visa? Also, may I ask if you applied from within Sweden?
DeleteI will forewarn you, as you may have read elsewhere (such as here on my blog, or on The Local), it has been well-documented and observed that those who apply for the sambo visa from within Sweden (as opposed to applying from their home countries and waiting there) unfortunately seem to wait much, much longer than others. We have cases where the applicant applied from within Sweden 16 months ago, and has still not even done an interview/
The theory is that MV de-prioritizes these cases since they are viewed as "the person is already reunited with their family member in Sweden, and is not as much a priority as those who are still separated for a very long time." It is not science, and MV won't say this anywhere on their website, but we've seen it in many instances. I thought I would just share that with you, to keep you up to date and help manage expectations in case this happens to affect your case.
In any event - please write back and let me know when you get any updates (even just things MV has told you!) so I can keep this spreadsheet up to date. This page gets almost 800 views every week, so the information we all share is clearly very valuable to others in our same shoes! <3
Oh! Also - what exact day in March did you apply?
DeleteHi Meg,
ReplyDeleteIm so happy today finally the long wait is over.So happy...Yeaay..I would like to share my details. Please add me to your statistics.Hope it will help :)
Country: Malaysia
Application date: 1st Nov 2014

Ahhh, congratulations, dear!!! I will add you right away. I wish you all the happiness in the world with your love. What a wonderful gift to get before the new year! <3 <3 <3
DeleteThank you so much ❤❤❤ wish you the same too dear :)
ReplyDeleteHey Megan! I'm also part of the Facebook group I väntan på familjen and I love your blog! It's being pretty hard on me too. My husband and I have been together for 9 years, married for just 6 months, mostly seeing each other 3 times a year and when we are finally able to move and start our lives together migrationsverket comes in the way. The worst is that when we decided to move to Sweden in 2013 we started making contact with migrationsverket several times to ask about the process and how long it took so that we could plan our wedding and leaving my work (which was bit messy for me as a physician), and not once they told us it could take more than 6 months. In fact they always told us it would take around 3-4months and it would be better if we applied after we got married in 2015 not before. Imagine my frustration knowing that if I applied sooner I wouldn't be unemployed, living with my parents and away from my husband after planning so much for so long and building a relationship for 9 years. I've had long distance for 9 years, I can't do that much more...
ReplyDeleteAnyways, you can add us in your spreadsheet also!
Application was submitted may 21st 2015

No interview yet or contact for additional info.
Keep strong! We'll live through this :)
Hi Luiza dear! It's so nice to meet you! And also terribly sad to say how many stories such as yours that I've heard. The frustration and feelings of wasted time are so severe, especially for couples who have been married with children, lived together, etc.... people who obviously have real relationships, having to be stuck in the Queue of Doom. For that, I am so terribly sorry, and I sympathize with you greatly. I wish there was something I could do for all of us. It just seems like we are stuck, and no amount of hope or action will make time pass any quicker than it currently does :(
DeleteI will add you to the spreadsheet now, and I look forward to hearing happy updates from you on your case as it progresses! As you say: we WILL make it through this wait. It may feel like forever right now, but one day in the distant future we will barely remember what this time in our lives felt like. I try to keep that in my mind every day :) <3
Hi
ReplyDeleteApplied for moving to someone in Sweden on 24-Feb-2015
Interview Date: no response
Decision: Pending
Thank you Wajid! Please visit back if and when you receive new updates on your case so that I may update the spreadsheet! They appear to be getting close to issuing you an interview, if you follow the numbers on the spreadsheet. But it's hard to tell. If you have not yet joined, there is a very helpful facebook support group call I Väntan På Familjen that you may wish to join, to seek support from others who are also in this process with us <3
DeleteOh - one more question. What country did you apply from?? Thanks!
DeleteThank you Megan for the support. I hope you know now that i applied from Pakistan. It seems that interview is close. And i will let you know when I will get interview date.
DeleteHi Megan,
ReplyDeleteTack så mycket for your excellent job of compiling the statistics, which made me feel I was not alone. Your posts kept me positive during the long long waiting time.
I got my decision last week and would like to share my details. Hope it'll help.
Country: Japan
Application submission: 2nd Nov 2014 (online)
Interview email: 16th April 2015
Interview: 19th May 2015 (Tokyo)
Request for more information: 14th Dec 2015
Information sent: 17th Dec 2015
Decision: 17th Dec 2015 (permit granted)
The decision came a couple of hours after my boyfriend sent the additional information. He is a non-EU citizen who has a permanent residence permit in Sweden, and the fact doesn't seem to affect the processing time.
I'm sure case officers are getting close to your case day by day. Tack och lycka till!
Ah, this is fantastic news @Anonymous!! Thank you so so much for taking the time to share this information. It will greatly help others around the world who are in your same situation and fear their case may be affected in some way. I wish you all the best and happiness for your future!! <3 <3
DeleteHey Megan!
ReplyDeleteI'm so glad I found my way to this page, and greatly appreciate your efforts in documenting everyone's progress so hope isn't too far away :) I'm a Swedish citizen waiting for my fiancé from the U.S. to make his way over here. We applied for the sambo visa on March 5th, 2015 (online), and my fiancé is based in the San Francisco Bay Area. Not sure if it makes any difference in the process, but I live in Malmö and this is where we're hoping to be based when he finally gets to move here.
All the best to you, and happy holidays!
Lucero
Hej Lucero! Tack för det! Jag kommer lägga dina uppgifter till kalkylbladet just nu :) Our details sound quite similar, my fiance is several hours north of you, and I am several hours south of your fiance!
DeleteNot sure if you are involved on Facebook, but I can also recommend some great support groups while you guys wait, if you think that would be helpful. There is a closed group on Facebook (just request an add) for Swedish partners called I Väntan På Familjen which is a rather large community, or if you and your partner feel so inclined, we have a much smaller secret group on Facebook for Swedes and their partners where we try to create a small family environment while we all push through the long wait. If you're interested in joining that one, just shoot me an email at uppehallstillstandstodgrupp@gmail.com and I'll send you the link. We have several members in the Bay Area waiting to be reunited with their Swedes, too. <3
Tack tack, och glad jul till er också!~

ReplyDeleteDating for 2 years, met in Sweden while I was a student, haven't lived together previously.
Nationality: United States
Applied: 12-27-2015
Interview request date: May 12th (They also asked me to prove I wasn't married)
Interview date: Sometime in June.
Approved: November 6th (Had to wait over the weekend for the DC visa hours to open so officially received the news November 9th)
Do you happen to know how the new maintenance requirements will effect applications for extensions? Getting worried about my future in Sweden.
Keep your head up you are almost there!
Ah! Thank you so much for sending your timeline, I will add it to the spreadsheet now. Back-data is just as important as current timelines :)
DeleteI unfortunately do not know about how maintenance requirements will affect extensions. My preliminary thoughts are that since you already are in Sweden on an approved visa, the maintenance requirements will not affect folks in your position. It seems to be a threshold required to be met by people wanting to enter into Sweden on a first-time basis. But then again, the laws haven't been signed into affect and nothing substantial has yet been published. Not sure if you've had a chance to snoop around here, but all that I know about the MR are written in my Part 8 post (http://hejaherrljunga.blogspot.se/2015/11/the-swedish-sambo-visa-in-2015-part-8.html), in case that helps give any kind of direction.
Hopefully more news will come out soon so that people can plan, but an excellent avenue for you to go is to simply email the Ministry of Justice (that's from whom I got my confirmation - a screen shot is included in my Part 8 post). Their email address is justitiedepartementet.registrator@regeringskansliet.se :)
If you do happen to reach out to them, could I trouble you to write me back and tell me what they say? I can update my Part 8... it could be very useful information for others in your position! <3

No interview e-mail yet but we are calling them tomorrow just make sure we're on track.
Thank you so much for this blog. I know it is a lot of work for you but it is oddly comforting to find community both here and on Facebook. It makes the long wait ahead of us seem less void.
Dusty
Thank you Dusty! Both for your application info, as well as your kind words. I couldn't agree with you more -- I feel like my daily agony decreased by at least 50% when I started writing and getting active in the Facebook groups. It is a very interesting phenomenon to physically experience the benefits of not feeling alone. Some days, believing there is "hope" feels like believing there is a Santa Claus, and yet seeing decisions come for people on the spreadsheet is like waking up to a tree full of presents underneath, and you begin to internalize that no matter how hopeless this situation feels today, it is 100% temporary. There IS an end to it. It is not a lifetime prison sentence, after all :)
DeleteI wish for you and your love a speedy and quick interview email, and a decision even quicker!! Please do come back and send me an update on your case when you have one, so I can keep this spreadsheet fresh for all the poor folks who have applied long after us. Happy 2016 <3

DeleteThanks for all your work putting this together Meg, you really are doing an amazing job.
ReplyDeleteI'm Australian, my girlfriend and I applied on 27/03/2015.
Since then we haven't had any news apart from the usual vague and conflicting statements about waiting times. My girlfriend actually called the office where our case is being handled earlier today, and she was told they are still opening cases from January 2015 (which is exactly what we were told in October last year). Best of luck with your own application, and thanks again.
/Matt
Thanks Matt! Thank you so much - I have added you to the spreadsheet, and please do visit back when you have more details on your case! (And apologies in advance for this long message!)
DeleteHave you received your interview email yet? I would assume not, but I can offer a little information nonetheless. First of all, you cannot rely on anything MV is saying (I don’t say this out of spite; it is simply true. The information they give varies widely and conflicts enormously. You could call and ask the same questions 5 times in one day, and get 5 different answers. This is the motivation behind making this spreadsheet).
The spreadsheet has consistently showed us this: Ever since last October, the vast majority of decisions have come within 13-14 months since applying. At the beginning of each new month, there seem to be a very small handful of decisions that come for cases that only end up waiting 11-12 months (we do not know why, and there is no common denominator for them). There are some cases that also seem to have to wait 14-15 months for no apparent reason, and then the rest come between 15-17 months (those are troublesome cases where the applicants already knew they would require extra investigation). This is scientifically supported information that we have, based on the number of cases tracked.
As for interview emails, that is an ENTIRELY other situation. For cases that were submitted after February 13, MV seems to have deliberately stopped issuing interview emails for web applications (always discount paper applications, since they always have their interview at the very beginning. This is normal). We have seen instances where they defend this by saying they wanted to focus all their manpower on processing the older cases, and then they will tackle the newer cases. In the past, the decision used to come very close after the interview, so maybe they are trying to get back to that pattern. Those who applied between Feb 13 - Feb 28 2015 have had to wait 9-11 months to receive their interview email. Some have still not received it. Only 2 of the 30 cases from March 2015 that I am tracking, have received their interview email yet. MV recently told one of my friends to expect to wait a year before she gets the interview email.
However, strangely, we are seeing a very high portion of October and November 2015 applications starting to receive their interview emails within weeks or a couple months of applying. You can see those dates on the spreadsheet. As of yet, we are not being given any explanation for this. MV just says “you can have your interview email at the beginning, middle or end of the process, but it doesn’t impact the overall wait.” We find this quite weird, since prior to this anomaly, the interview emails almost ALWAYS came according to the order in which the application was originally registered (save for paper applications, where they always do the interview at the beginning).
I hope some or ANY of this information is useful to you and your girlfriend. I think the overall message is to keep your eyes on this spreadsheet and not listen to the wait times MV quotes -- even if they were to tell you accurate estimates, you wouldn't know if it was true until the day actually came. Recently, it seems that February 2015 cases are finally being closed out (in terms of sending interview emails), and that most “standard” (ie, non-complicated) cases from November 2014 are finally being delivered decisions – although we have seen several December 2014 and January 2015 cases starting to receive decisions too.
I highly recommend that you or your girlfriend join the Facebook community, because there is some great information and support in that group. Note that it is in Swedish, but they read and respond to English posts and comments. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/607552706053504/
Thanks Meg, that is all really useful information. You're correct in assuming I haven't received an interview email yet. I'll be sure to checkout the Facebook group too.
DeleteThanks again for all your help.

Hi Megan, I think i am the one who is waiting soooo looooong.
ReplyDeleteWe have applied 2014/april/28
Interview invitation: 1 of september 2015. after 16 months
interview date: 23 of October 2015 Moscow
Decision: PENDING
We have a case officer but she does not answer our mails. It kills me. Really I have no idea what to do?
Hi there, friend. I am so sorry to hear of your extensive timeline. If it is any consolation, as you can see on the spreadsheet, there are a few others who have been caught up in the administrative mess of "more investigations" and have to wait longer.
DeleteDo you have any idea why your case has been so delayed? You don't have to write it publicly. Feel free to email me at uppehallstillstandstodgrupp@gmail.com if you want to talk and see if there is any advice I can give?? In the meantime, I will add your timeline to the list because you are surely NOT the only one who is going through a very long wait. <3
Hi Megan, we got decision. :) we r soooooooooo Happy. Thank you.
DeleteFull 21 months 12 days. If u have any question I am ready to answer.
Good luck every one.
Oh YAY!!!!!!!!!!! Omg omg omg... congratulations!!!! You have more than earned this moment of happiness. I am so happy for you two!! I wish you all the luck in the future, and I hope you can soon forget this nightmare and put it behind you. Best wishes and a happy future to you and your loved one!! <3 <3 <3
DeleteI do not know what else is going on with my case in migration. I applied to 26.11.2014 and have accepted the invitation to interview 12.03.2015 I did an interview while 23/04/2015 in Skopje. And my girlfriend has called MV have said that they are now looking at applications of October and November 2014 .
ReplyDeleteFrom -Kosovo
Hi Anonymous! First of all, I am SO sorry it took me a week to respond to you. You wrote me the day before I left Sweden on a visit to my love, and I just lost track of everything (including my sanity. Such a sad day leaving him behind) :(
DeleteAnnnnyway, DO NOT WORRY! You should be getting your decision any day now! Do NOT listen to them if they tell you that you do not have a case officer, or that it will take "up to 21 months" for you to get the decision (I'm sure they've told your girlfriend this already - they say it to everyone).
On Wednesday, someone who applied 20 Nov 2014 got their decision. Then yesterday, someone who applied on 23 Nov 2014 got their decision!! Both were told just a day or two before, that they didn't have a case officer and needed to wait "14-21 months". So, keep strong and faithful, and you will surely have your decision in the next week or so! <3
And please write me back when you do, so I can share your happy news on the spreadsheet!
Now in my case it is finished and waiting came to an end. date of decision 21.01.2016 i'm so happy . thank you for evrything. good luck for all
DeleteYou see?? Sometimes, some couples have to wait a few weeks longer than others (we don't know why - but it doesn't mean anything bad) :) CONGRATULATIONS!!! I will update the spreadsheet right now!
DeleteAnd for anyone else who is reading this comment and has been waiting close to 14 months, DON'T WORRY! The decisions will be coming any day :) It is so hard to wait those last few weeks, but stay positive and look forward to the exciting day the when decision has come! <3
Hi Meg! It's Ela. I am one of the newer additions to the list. I applied on the 12th of January 2016 and I chose Washington D.C. for my interview.
ReplyDeleteDo you know if it's possible to do the interview in another country if I'm not in the United States when the invitation comes? (I will be moving to another country for a couple of months)
Thank you so much for this blog, it is really so helpful!
Hi Ela!!
DeleteYes - you absolutely can do your interview at another country. We have several people in our support group who have done it. I asked one of them to explain the process, and this is what She said:
"Yes - you can transfer your case. Multiple times, in fact! I transferred my case from Berlin, and then to Athens, and then to Paris :) It sounds complicated, but it's pretty easy. All you have to do is call or write to the embassy you want your case transferred to, and ask them to take over your case instead and inform the embassy you previously wanted your case to be handled, and tell them you wish to change, and would like it to be transferred. I had to request for an interview, and they gave me dates, who ever gave me the earliest date, that is where I transferred it. I only changed embassies once I got the email to book an interview, and it was no problem at all."
So I recommend this: Even before you get the interview email, call the new embassy in the new country now, and ask them if you can do this. If they say yes, ask them how long the wait time is to book an interview. If it is super long, perhaps consider calling a neighboring country's embassy (you do not need to live in the country in order to use them to do the interview!) and see if the wait times are shorter. Then, I personally would call the DC embassy and try to get an idea of how long (days? Weeks?) it takes to send your case to the new embassy. When you get the interview email, call the new embassy and tell them you want to transfer your case, and book an appointment within a time frame the gives enough time for your case to be transferred. Then call the DC embassy and ask them to transfer your case to the new embassy. Voila!
Btw, the girl who wrote that message just got her decision yesterday :) She waited the standard 13.5 months - so, don't let yourself worry that transferring your case my delay your decision. She was a Nepalese citizen living in Norway and transferred her case to 3 other global cities, lol. So - all is good!
Meg
Thank you so much! Now I can wait for the interview invitation in peace.
DeleteEla
Hi Meg!
DeleteI can't tell you how helpful your blog has been for me. I just officially applied for my permit on 1/24/2016, and I've been reading your posts like crazy getting ready for it! Thank you so much for all of your effort.
I'm wondering - when I selected my embassy for the interview, the website said that it had to be done in the country of which I am a citizen, or where I had a "legal residence permit." Late last year, I emailed MV and they told me the same thing. But reading this, is it true that you don't actually have to be living in the country to do the interview there? My husband and I live in Korea right now (I'm American though), but we are leaving at the beginning of August 2016. Looking at wait times, it seems doubtful that we'll be able to actually do the interview before leaving Korea, even though I did indicate the Seoul embassy as our preference on the application. We'd like to travel around Asia after we move, and so would ideally transfer our case to the embassy wherever we are at the time we get the invitation email. But this would only work if we don't, in fact, have to be legally living in the country where we do the interview! Otherwise, we will have to make an expensive trip back to the USA. Plus, because the application timeline is so unpredictable, it would be hard for us to plan that in advance.
Haha, I'm not sure if I'm being clear about any of that - our plans/this process/all of the variables make my own head spin! Basically what I'm wondering is, did the people you mentioned in the support group who have transferred their cases transfer them strictly to countries where they were living, or can you confirm that some people have successfully interviewed in countries where they were not legal residents?
Again, thank you so much for your help. And feel free to add me to the spreadsheet if you like! :)
-Liz
Hi Liz!
DeleteYou read correctly - I have seen and known many people who did their interview in countries they do not reside in :) I suggest that once you and your hubby have your Asia travels set, you locate the few embassies you may be passing by, and give them a call now. Some embassies, like Manila and Bangkok, can be more impacted than others, like Taipei and Ho Chi Mihn City, so it could take a while for them to receive your case transfer and book you an appointment. So figure out which one is best, make sure they allow you to transfer your case, and then once you get your interview email, call them start the case file transaction.
The only tricky thing is that it can take a few weeks for a case to transfer, so you will need to plan ahead if you plan on being on the move, to figure out which city you will be in, in time to do the interview. It may require some flexibility, but that's probably more favorable than booking a ticket to the US to do the interview! :)
I sent MV an email on Sunday and they basically told me to be patient because the new processing times are 8-21 months for a sambo visa.
ReplyDeleteApplication registered on 29/7/2015
Hi Anonymous! May I add you to the spreadsheet? If so, may I know what country you applied from?
DeleteMV is telling people that super wide range in application dates just to cover their own bases. The fact of the matter is, when you call kundtjänst (customer service), they do not have access to your file and cannot tell you any details about your case. So, they usually quote the longest waiting time because it is the best estimate they can give, knowing they know nothing about you.
Keep your eyes on the spreadsheet. Normal cases are getting decisions between 12-15 months, with the average wait time currently 13.30 months (13 months and 10 days). This may increase ever so slightly, but I still think it is fully within reason for you to expect to have a decision within 14 months.
Otherwise, yes - patience is the name of the game, unfortunately....
~Meg
Hi Meg,
ReplyDeleteI really appreciate the work you're doing on this blog. The wait as everyone knows can really take a toll especially if patience is not your strong suit like me.
Thank you so much for the positivity and the encouragement.
Application submitted on 29th July 2015 (online)and since then, no word at all.
Nairobi, Kenya.
GiGi
Hi GiGi! Thank you for your kind and encouraging words. I will add you to our spreadsheet - hopefully you will get your interview email soon!! Please visit back here and let me know when you do! <3
DeleteHey.Today I had answer for letter about the waiting time for an interview letters
We waiting 10 mohths.(((((
Hi Boni!
DeleteFirst of all, I want to tell you to keep your chin up. I know this is the most extraordinarily difficult thing you probably have ever had to go through. And I know how absolutely painful and depressing it can be when you have waited so long, and it seems the waiting time just gets longer and longer for every month that you wait.
Close your eyes and remind yourself of this one thing: despite the fact that it feels like you may still have a long road ahead of you, know that this wait will NOT last forever. Close your eyes and think about the day that WILL come, when you have the decision in your hands. You have waited 10 months already... you are certainly more than halfway done with the wait!! And think about it... how long is just a couple of months? It's not that long :) It's just a few weeks :)
We have been seeing the interview emails come out very chaotically, recently. So it may be that you get your invitation next week! It's impossible to say. We have heard a little news that MV seems to be re-organizing, and that perhaps they are preparing the Umeå office to handle ALL interview requests soon. It could be that MV is just getting the last people trained and ready to start delivering tons of interview emails next month. At least, we can hope! We are starting to see more interview emails being issued, so I should think you will get yours very soon. And hopefully, a quick decision after that.
I will keep you in my thoughts... and let me know if we could add you to the spreadsheet :) If so, let me know what country you applied from, and what date you submitted your application. I would also invite you to join us in the facebook group where you can receive a lot more support. Here is the link: https://www.facebook.com/groups/607552706053504/

Hello))i am from Russia,he is from Sweden, we met each other at Singapore and after living and travelling together about 9 months decided to apply for a sambo visa)applyed 1 of september 2015, waiting now 5 months and didnt get any answer, so same as your couple we cant plan anything, i cant work normally and maximum what we can do,just visit each other for 10 days every second month(thank you so much for your site!!))it really helps me to stay strong and to feel myself, what we are not alone!and i hope, you will get a visa as soon as possible!!!!
ReplyDeleteHi Elvira! I will add you to our spreadsheet now :) Thank you for your kind words... it has been so helpful for me, too, to be able to connect with other people who know how difficult this process can be. And yes - I can tell you for sure that the absolute BEST way to make it through this waiting time, is to visit as frequently as possible. It always gives you something to look forward to and it makes the time pass SO MUCH QUICKER! :) :)
DeleteAre you connected with any of the Russian support forums for this wait? There is one called Sweden4Rus (I think this is the link: http://www.sweden4rus.nu/forum/viewmsg?pid=7806 ); I have met several people on that forum and they are really awesome. There is also the i väntan Facebook group (https://www.facebook.com/groups/607552706053504/) where you can get a lot of information and questions answered too. Just in case those resources can help you and your boyfriend during your wait! <3

I applied after returning to Canada, a couple of weeks after my student residence permit had expired. My boyfriend and I had been living together for six months up until my departure and I'm kicking myself for not staying and applying from within Sweden before that permit expired. Oh well, you live and learn...
You applied the same day as me! Oh man, that SUCKS about not having stayed.... but if it's any consolation, I can tell you countless nightmares of people who did stay in the country and apply for a new permit, and have had to wait EXTRAORDINARILY long for any news on their case. MV seems to down-prioritize those cases below all others, seemingly because they view you as already being reunited with your partner and "able to wait". It is infuriating for those people who applied from within... so maybe the grass is greener on our side after all! :)
DeletePlease check back in with me when you get your decision... we are hoping for one in the next 4-8 weeks, but who knows. It's all a mystery! <3
That is definitely some consolation, thank you! My boyfriend and I have been trying to focus on the positives of me applying from Canada, so that's one more thing to add to the list. :)
DeleteI'm holding my thumbs that we both get our permits by early spring :) I'll keep you posted when I get my decision!
Fyi - just yesterday, someone who applied the same day as us (in turkey) received their decision. Eeek! Hopefully that means it will be our turn soon :)
DeleteThat's promising!
DeleteAn update on my case: it was settled this morning :) My boyfriend called Migrationsverket to find out the decision, as neither of us wanted to wait until the embassy in Ottawa opened. The decision came a bit unexpectedly, because, as of Tuesday morning, there had been no case officer assigned to my application (cue me freaking out for two days straight). Thankfully, it worked out and I've been issued a four-year residence permit. I'm curious as to the reasoning behind giving me a residence permit for four years as opposed to two years, but it really doesn't matter in the grand scheme of things.
DeleteBy the way, congratulations on receiving your permit and, especially, on your little one!
Update #2: I received an email about my decision from the embassy today. My TUT is for 2 years, which is what I'd expected. I'm not sure why the person my boyfriend spoke to told him that it was for four years...
DeleteYAYYYY!!! Congrats!! The person your boyfriend spoke to may have misunderstood and thought it was a work permit you were awarded? Who knows... by now, you have graduated from MV University and have a degree in "MV always tells you weird info on the phone". ;D ;D ;D Best wishes to a warm and wonderful future, Sabrina!!!! <3 <3
DeleteThanks, Megan! The same to you! :D

ReplyDeleteFeel free to add us!
Submission Date: 05 February 2016 (this week sigh)
Applied From: Swede and Australia from within sweden, paper copy
Interview Invitation: Not yet
Interview Date: Not yet
Decision Date: Not yet
Seems like applications from within Sweden take longer?
Thanks!
Hey there!! Thank you so much - I will add you right now.
DeleteAs for timelines.... I mean, I only have a very small handful that I am tracking for people who applied from within Sweden, but if the statistics are to be believed, then yes - it seems that those who apply from within Sweden unfortunately wait the longest out of pretty much every case. There is currently one in the queue - an Aussie who was in Sweden on a working holiday permit, and then converted to a Sambo permit as he lives with his girlfriend - they have waited now 18 months and have yet to even get an interview date. I think that MV seems to view people who applied from within Sweden, as "being able to wait". They can work, study, seek healthcare, and live with their family member(s) during the wait, and so I believe MV views these applicants as low priority :/
BUT, who knows. Hopefully only the cases that were submitted in 2014 or earlier are treated that way, and the new cases such as yours will follow the same "methodical" pattern as those who applied from outside of Sweden? Please do stay in touch to let me know of any updates on your case as it progress!! <3
Hello! Feel free to add us to your spreadsheet.

Hi Eddie! Sorry for the late reply, I've been dealing with 24/7 morning sickness, it's starting to kill me lol. Yes! I will add you right now :) Thank you for sharing, and do come back in a month or two (hopefully no more!?) to let me know when you get your decision :D Yay!!
DeleteThanks for this blog, have been following this for a bit. Happy to say I've been accepted with a permanent residence permit! My details:
ReplyDeleteCountry of origin: USA (spouse is dual citizen USA/Sweden)
Date of application: 31/3/2015
Date of Interview: 19/1/2016-28/1/2016 (we had some marriage paperwork that needed to be confirmed so the interview info was not submitted until 28/1/2016)
Date of acceptance: 11/2/2016
Definitely on the shorter side. To note I did mention I have a job lined up which may have accelerated the process.
Oh and my invitation to interview was 11/1/2016
DeleteAhhhh, congrats!! Yes - I have heard of several applicants who have been able to shave off a little bit of time (not much - but anything is helpful!!) due to their work lined up with Swedish companies. This is particularly the case for those who are doing their wait in Sweden and are already employed (and face much longer wait times than all of us), but I have also heard it for sambo applicants doing their wait outside of Sweden but for whom have job offers lined up. MV will never ever come forthright and say this out loud, but they seem to have a special relationship with Swedish companies, and will indeed work to slightly expedite cases on the grounds that they do not want to impede business. So - that's a double congrats to you!!! Finally you have your UT *and* a job. How truly wonderful!! Thank you for letting me add you to the spreadsheet! <3

Hello Megan and everyone,
ReplyDeleteI found this blog very helpful. Thanks for all the effort, monitoring other peoples applications and giving useful advice.
I just sent my application for a residence permit (sambo visa) yesterday by post since I am currently in Sweden with my Au pair visa (1 year resident permit) that expires on April 9th this year. I have been thinking about leaving the country and doing the application outside of Sweden but my Swedish bf convinced that it is better for us to stay together while waiting.
Application Sent: February 28, 2016 (waiting for confirmation that it has been received by the migrationsverket in Umea)
I got my first Au pair permit before for only about 6 weeks of waiting (Yeah that is short when they originally told me it takes usually 3 months. But then again its a totally different application. I wish my application would not take that long but looking at the spreadsheet it would probably take awhile but still I hope things will get better at the migration board and the processing time will get much shorter. Although, I am thankful I could at least be with my bf for now.
Will be closely checking your blog. :)
Hoping for the best,
Shan
Thank you Shan! I will add you to the spreadsheet now :) I suggest you maybe join us in the Facebook group. I am particularly interested in tracking your case. We have seen some rough timelines from people who apply from within Sweden. In general, those who apply from within Sweden seem to be placed in the longest waiting time category (currently 14-21 months), when the average waiting time for those outside is still just 13.5 months. I have only a small sample size of applicants who are within Sweden, but some of those who I have been tracking have waited over 18 months and still have not received an interview invitation. There is a growing number of "inifrån applicants" in the Facebook support group and they are hoping to get information from each other. You may find it useful to network with them in while you wait. The link is here: https://www.facebook.com/groups/607552706053504/
DeleteThe only reason we can all deduce that MV would make inifrån applicants wait the longest, is because they are seen as already reunited with their family member and more capable of waiting. The problem that arises is when your au pair permit expires. If you do not have a valid residence permit in Sweden, you can't really leave the country or you might find it difficult to come back in. That's really the only downside :)
Anyway, stay in touch and let me know of updates in your case as it progresses!
Meg
Thanks Meg and Congratulations for the approval your permit.
DeleteYes, I can see that most couples applying within Sweden wait the longest. I still hope that things get better over at the MV and something good happens for those who are waiting.
I will find the group on FB. Thanks a lot for the info.
Have a nice day
Shan
Hello Megan, was looking at updates on the spreadsheet above and I was wondering where my information is now?. Thanks. Regards, Shan
DeleteHi,
ReplyDeleteWish I had found this blog when I was waiting. You can add my case to your spreadsheet if you wish.

Haha! Isn't that the truth :D There is always another queue to worry about, isn't there? ;)
DeleteThank you so much for taking the time to share your timeline. Old cases are just as important, because we can more accurately measure trends over time. So - thank you! I will add you now :)

Awww, thank you Matthew! So kind of you <3 I will add you to the spreadsheet right now! The Embassy was a bit of a nightmare, no one seemed to understand why I was there or what I wanted - the receptionist kept giving me a pamphlet on Visas (she seemed to think I was asking for a visa?) and telling me to call the number on it until eventually I found someone else at a desk and asked them who casually gave me a date and time with no email confirmation! Scary! Thank you again!

I'm ultra excited, because my boyfriend is coming here tomorrow to visit me, and he's staying for a week! And thank god the Seattle consulate is not a busy one, because they were able to get me in for an interview in a couple of days when my boyfriend is here! :) So awesome.
Thanks for everything!
Rachel
Thank you so much for your sweet words Rachel! Sorry it took me so long to respond, I am up to my eyeballs in so much "life stuff" right now haha :)
DeleteI have made the equivalent of a best friend in this process and she also recently did her interview at the Seattle consulate and had a really great experience! I hope yours was just as nice :) Please come back and visit and let me know when your decision comes through so I can update the spreadsheet with that info also! <3
Dear Megan!
ReplyDeleteThank you for collecting all this information for us! It definitely helps to realize that my husband and I are not alone in this Great Wait...:( Before I found your blog, i thought there might have been something wrong with my application, but now it is clear that most of the couples are waiting for the same time period regardless of their interview invitation time or the date when the interview is scheduled.
My husband is a Swedish citizen, and I have a Russian passport. However, I live and work in Vancouver, Canada. So I am going to have the interview in the Consulate in Vancouver. It is going to be a phone interview with Montreal.
We submitted the application on August 3, 2015
I was invited to book an appointment on March 17, 2016
I have contacted the Consulate, they told me to wait until the next week for the interview date.
Please, add my information.
Thank you:)
Best, Evgeniya
